Qualifications Matter
The 30 Day Diploma in Commercial Dog Grooming, Animal Welfare and Salon Management course delivered here at our AWARD WINNING GROOMING SCHOOL is first and foremost about treating the dogs with the utmost of care while learning to groom them safely, all while working towards gaining a regulated qualification.
Our course is about teaching subjects such as Anatomy and Behaviour so the dogs can be handled safely without causing discomfort or injury. Learning about behaviour helps groomers recognise signs of fear, stress or aggression, enabling them to adjust their approach to keep the dog calm and comfortable.
Skin and Coat Health Knowledge is another subject on our course that we feel is very important to learn about. Our students, through both practical and theory based learning are trained to spot common skin issues, parasites (like fleas or ticks), and abnormalities such as lumps or infections so they can report these issues to the owners of the dogs. They will learn about various coat types and the specific grooming needs each one requires, from double coats to wiry or silky coats, to keep the dog’s coat healthy and manageable.
Canine First Aid, another important subject every course should include, enables groomers to handle minor injuries or emergencies (like cuts or overheating) with confidence and care. This knowledge is crucial for the safety of the dogs, especially for senior dogs or dogs with special needs.
The assignments within the qualification also include the subject of Customer Care. It is important to learn about dealing with customers and how to best achieve their requests while avoiding disappointment. We often speak about real life complaints and how to manage and avoid them. Example price lists are given also. Once qualified, trainee groomers are encouraged to charge their worth and to make sure to dot all the t's and c's in relation to setting up their new business.
Real qualifications are not just a reflection of what you know; they are a testament to what you are capable of achieving.
With both certifications and demonstrated skill, groomers are more likely to earn the trust of dog owners, leading to a loyal client base.
